How to Choose the Right Air Filter

A Quick Reference Guide to  AIR FILTERS

Select the level of performance that you prefer:  Standard, Pleated, Cut-to-fit, or Premium, as described below.

Refer to the arrestance percentages and features that match your needs, including system requirements:  Central HVAC w/standard sizes or Window A/C trim-to-fit.

Choose the right filter by matching the products described in "Product Line Up".  For your convenience and to maintain system performance, pick up extra filters or replacement pads and change or clean as recommended.

Standard Fiberglass Air Filters  - Basic Efficiency - A fiberglass/synthetic panel with 70% arrestance for removal of atmospheric dusts.  These filters should be changed every 30 days.

Pleated Air Filters - Medium to High Efficiency (depending on application).  A pleated cotton/polyester extended surface media with added features such as wire support and die-cut frames with greater arrestance than standard air filters.  These filters should be replaced or cleaned every 30 to 90 days depending on the concentration of contaminants.

Premium Assortment - High Efficiency - A pleated or extended surface filter with an electrostatically charged media that attracts and holds a wider variety of airborne contaminants, including microscopic particles as small as 0.5 microns (about 1/100th the size of the tip of a pin).  Additional features may include antibacterial treatment of media.

The performance of these products is based on standards set forth by ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers).
